What is a self-portrait studio
There is no photographer in the room. The camera, lights and background are ready before you arrive. You stand in front of the lens, see yourself in a mirror or on a screen, and press a small remote whenever you like the pose. You choose the pace, the music and how many frames to take — nobody is watching.

D.Studio, Limassol
D.Studio opened in 2021 as the first self-portrait studio in Limassol. It is in the centre of Limassol, in the heart of the old town, with free city parking and a paid private car park nearby. The space has natural daylight, 5-metre ceilings and a 4×4 m white cyclorama, so full-length shots and group photos fit without crowding. The studio has professional equipment: flash and continuous video light, light modifiers, triggers and C-stands. The camera and light are set up before you arrive; a different lighting setup is available on request for an extra fee.
There are three self-portrait packages:
- — Basic — 45 min, €60: cyclorama or colour backdrop, black-and-white or colour, up to 4 people.
- — Optimal — 1 h, €90: adds a full-length colour backdrop, both black-and-white and colour, RAW files, up to 5 people.
- — Max Value — 1 h 30 min, €120: cyclorama and colour backdrop, 10 retouched photos, up to 6 people.
Every package has no limit on the number of shots, and photos arrive within 24 hours. In the holiday season the studio has a New Year set: a big decorated Christmas tree, a soft zone with a blanket and pillows, red and olive backdrops, disco balls and festive props (artificial snow at extra cost). If you'd rather work with a photographer, you can also rent the studio with your own photographer.

In Limassol a 45-minute session costs €70 with one backdrop (€80 for both black-and-white and colour), and a 60-minute session with a background change costs €100; in Paphos the same formats cost €50–€80. Backdrops come in black, white, grey and pink, and selected photos are delivered with basic colour correction.

How to choose a self-portrait studio
- — Light and ceiling height. Daylight gives soft, natural skin tones; high ceilings mean the light can sit higher and full-length shots don't feel cramped.
- — Cyclorama or paper backdrop. A cyclorama has no visible corner between wall and floor, so full-length and group photos look clean. Paper backdrops work well for head-and-shoulders portraits.
- — What you receive. Ask how many photos you get, in what format (JPG or RAW), whether any retouching is included and how fast the files arrive.
- — How many people can come. Check the limit per package and the price for each extra person.
- — Location and parking. Check how to get in, whether there is parking nearby and whether someone is on site if you need help.
Your first session: 7 tips
- Bring two or three outfits in plain colours. Logos and small patterns distract on camera.
- Start with test shots. Spend the first five minutes finding your light and your distance from the camera.
- Play your own music. It's the fastest way to relax when nobody is watching.
- Move between frames. Shift your weight, turn your shoulders, change your hands — small changes give very different photos.
- Use the whole session. 45 minutes goes fast; plan one backdrop or outfit per 15–20 minutes.
