What "included" really means
The hourly rate is only part of the cost. The biggest difference between studios is the light: who sets it up and whether you pay extra for it.
- — Lighting setup. At D.Studio, one lighting setup by our gaffer is part of the rental. At Rooms and The Studio 1.1 a gaffer is booked by the hour at €50/h; at Rooms the administrator only switches the lights on and helps with camera sync.
- — Number of lights. D.Studio gives you any 2 of its 5 lights. Rooms includes 2 flash heads; Begalidis Media rents lights separately.
- — Booking step. At D.Studio and The Studio 1.1 you can extend by 30 minutes. At Rooms an hour is the smallest unit, and staying more than 5 minutes over means paying for the next hour.
- — Help on site. D.Studio is run by a photographer with more than 10 years of experience who helps with the technical side — light, camera, sync — and, if you book the studio photographer, with posing and the shoot itself.
Example: a 2-hour shoot where you need someone to set up the light for one hour costs €120 at D.Studio (setup included), €170 at Rooms (€120 + €50 gaffer) and €190 at The Studio 1.1 (€140 + €50 gaffer), as of November 2026.
Daylight, 5 m ceilings and a lighting setup included — from €60/h
Book the studioHow to choose: 6 questions to ask before booking
- Daylight or blackout? Daylight gives soft, natural skin tones and works without extra lights for portraits. Blackout studios give full control but you light everything yourself.
- How high is the ceiling? Higher ceilings let the light sit above the model and make full-length and group shots easier. D.Studio has 5 m.
- Cyclorama or paper? A cyclorama has no visible corner between wall and floor — clean full-length and product shots. Paper backdrops are fine for head-and-shoulders.
- What lights are included, and who sets them up? Count the lights in the price and ask whether a lighting setup costs extra.
- What is the booking step? 30-minute extensions save money when a shoot runs a little long.
- Where is it and where do you park? Central studios are easier for models and clients; industrial areas are easier for vans and big kit.
